Capacitors |
|||
|
Capacitors are very useful little electronic components. They
store charge for a short time. In effect they are electrical
springs. As such they are widely used in electronic circuits as
timers. Other uses include smoothing circuits that "iron out"
electrical bumps. They also act as filters. We will look at how capacitors store charge and energy. The energy is stored as an electric field between two plates that are very close together. |
